The Adam Chamber Music Festival will celebrate its 10th anniversary at the beginning of 2009. Running over 16 days from 23 January to 7 February, it will present 42 events in the wonderful environment of the Top of the South region. Joint Artistic Directors, Helene Pohl and Gillian Ansell, have invited 40 leading musicians and seven New Zealand composers to travel to Nelson for this biennial event. With us in spirit will be the German composer, Felix Mendelssohn as we celebrate his 200th birthday during the Festival period. As with other Northern Hemisphere musicians and overseas Festival supporters, he will be escaping the harsh northern winter to enjoy the gorgeous weather of Nelson in summertime. The last Adam Chamber Music Festival was featured in the NZ Listener's BEST OF 2007 in classical music. With 50 percent more events, the 2009 Festival will be the best ever and confirm its reputation as New Zealand's national chamber music festival.
